Minnesota Music Scene’s Best Moments & Stories: Ronny Wilson

March 29, 2019 By RiverSong

Carrie Nation and the SpeakeasyRiverSong is Minnesota’s homegrown music festival on the music scene for a decade. It’s proudly one of Minnesota’s most affordable music festivals, where we work hard to offer value-priced tickets to make RiverSong affordable to everyone. Thanks to our sponsors, volunteers, and attendees, RiverSong continues to be a “must-attend” festival in the heart of summer.

So Ronny, you’ve attended RiverSong for many years and volunteered a number of ways, including the steering committee. Inquiring minds want to know:

What is your Minnesota tie?

I live in Hutchinson.

What is your favorite thing about RiverSong?

The beautiful setting along the river! Great mix of music for all to enjoy.

Share your top memory of RiverSong over the years.

My favorite performers was HoneyHoney in 2015. They’re really talented and have a great sound. The singer’s voice is so great. And they were super great to work with; very easy-going and courteous. Another great memory was last year, just ahead and during Blues Traveler in the beer tent. We had a solid line of patrons for a couple hours! But we kept people moving through very quickly. I remember that Patrick Hiltner (Hospitality committee member), who saw us in need of some additional help, starting pouring beers. I think he must’ve poured beers out of the same tap without shutting it off for an hour!

What are your top 5 favorite performers of all time?

HoneyHoney, Star & Micey, Carrie Nation & the Speakeasy, Rayland Baxter, Crankshaft & the Geargrinders

If you were to offer a tip to someone attending for the first time this year, what would it be?

Come with an open mind, empty stomach, and thirsty!
