RiverSong is Minnesota’s homegrown music festival on the music scene for a decade. It’s proudly one of Minnesota’s most affordable music festivals, where we work hard to offer value-priced tickets to make RiverSong affordable to everyone. Thanks to our sponsors, volunteers, and attendees, RiverSong continues to be a “must-attend” festival in the heart of summer.
So Laurie, you’ve attended RiverSong for many years and volunteered in a number of ways. Inquiring minds want to know:
What’s your favorite memories of Riversong?
My favorite memories of RiverSong include the camaraderie of all the volunteers before and during the festival. Everyone works hard, but has fun. I fondly think back on Gayle Diehl’s fabulous snacks for the performers. One of the first years, a storm rolled in, so obviously there was a rush to take down the main stage. The winds picked up while the team was take down the set. I remember something like a tarp blowing in the wind, and I can still picture Mark Hanneman basically jumping off the ladder with a light bar in his arms; the dedication and commitment evident in everything the team did to keep the equipment and festival goer’s safe.
Who is your favorite performer to hit the stage at RiverSong?
I think my favorite was Davina and the Vagabonds.
